B. ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS.
1. What happened to the ship, the crew and Gulliver once the
weather turned bad?
The ship moved
up and down and ultimately capsized. A dozen of men died in the ship and six crew men who managed to escape the ship were caught in the
force of gale. Gulliver floated and reached to the land called Lilliput.
2. Why did Gulliver fall into a deep sleep?
Gulliver
was completely exhausted. Therefore as he collapsed on the short, soft grass and
fell into a deep sleep.
3. Did the leader take good care of Gulliver? Give reasons for
your answer.
Yes! The leader
took good care of Gulliver. He understood what Gulliver wanted and almost immediately
ordered his men to bring food and a great pot of milk for Gulliver. He understood Gulliver meant no harm to them.
C. THINK AND ANSWER.
1. The little men made a platform. What could the reason be?
The little
men made a platform about eight inches high. This they made, so that the little men
could climb on it and communicate to Gulliver.
2. Why did
the soldiers seem much stronger than Gulliver even though they were much
smaller than him?
Unlike
Gulliver who was lying all along, the soldiers were all united and followed their
leader. It is like an army of ants showing their unified strength against intruders. Besides all the soldiers were armed with arrows and Gulliver was unarmed.
D. DISCUSS IN CLASS.
The little men fed Gulliver when he asked for food. Do you think
they were kind to him?
Give reasons for your answer.
Apparently
it might look they were very cruel to Gulliver, because they had tied him up so
that he could not move. In real they were not cruet to him. Had they been cruel
to him, they would not provide him food eat and milk to drink. It is normal to
secure one’s own community against any intruders or potential threat. Thus they
had initially tied Gulliver and later on released him as he was harmless.
