What is Notice Writing?

A notice is a short, formal written announcement meant to inform a specific group of people about an event, activity, meeting, competition, lost and found item, or any important information. It is generally displayed on a notice board or shared through official channels.

 

Purpose of Notice Writing

·        To provide important information.

·        To announce events or competitions.

·        To invite people to participate.

·        To inform about meetings or changes.

·        To report lost and found items.

·        To make official announcements.

 

Rules of Notice Writing

1.      Mention the name of the issuing organization/school.

2.      Write the word NOTICE in capital letters.

3.      Write the date on which the notice is issued.

4.      Give a clear and suitable heading.

5.      Keep the notice brief.

6.      Use simple and formal language.

7.      Give the following details as far as possible.

a.      What?

b.      When?

c.       Where?

d.      Who?

e.      Why?

f.        How?

8.      Write in third person as far as possible.

9.      Do not use unnecessary details.

10. End with:

a.      Signature

b.      Name

c.       Designation

Question 1:

You are Aman Gupta, the Head Boy of Sunrise Senior Secondary School. A blue stainless steel water bottle has been found near the school library on 22 July 2026. Write a notice asking the owner to collect it from the school office after providing proper identification. Draft a notice.
