B. ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS

1. What did Helen's friend see during her long walk in the woods? What was Helen's reaction?

Helen's friend, who had just returned from a long walk in the woods, had seen nothing in particular.

Helen was utterly surprised as to 'how was that possible!' Although blind even she is capable of finding hundreds of things to interest her through mere touch.

 2. How was Helen able to recognise her friends?

She could recognise her friends by running her fingertips on their faces. She could detect laughter, sorrow, and many other obvious emotions.

As an experiment she had questioned husbands about the colour of their wives' eyes, and often they express embarrassed confusion and admitted that they did not know.

On the second day she would like to visit museums, theatre and a movie.

For the third day she would like to see the dawn and spend time in a workaday world, amid the haunts of men going about the business of life.

C. THINK AND ANSWER

1. Your eyes would touch and embrace every object that come within your range of vision. How can eyes 'touch and embrace' objects?

Here the meaning 'eyes touch and embrace object' is symbolic. It wants to express the idea that once we realise the blessing of the ability to see, we would start looking everything lovingly and carefully.

3. Do you think that Helen was frustrated with her fate, or had she accepted it calmly? Give reasons.

No, I do not think that Helen Keller was frustrated with her fate, rather she had accepted it calmly and explored all her other senses. She was frustrated when people with their abilities to see, took it for granted. and were not even aware about it.

D. DISCUSS IN CLASS.

1. We take for granted what we have and complain about what do not have. Should we do this?

We must always be happy with what we have. When we complain for things, we do not have we become sad for not having that thing. We start comparing with others and become sad even more. Let out happiness be with our dear and near ones and not with the things that can be damaged any time.
