a. Why is awareness called an unexpected visitor?

Awareness in the midst of depression, meanness, joy and sorrow it can help individuals to see beyond their negative thoughts and emotions in an unexpected way. Hence when human being is treated as guest house, awareness is a visitor.

b. Why does the speaker ask us to welcome and entertain our negative feelings?

Negative feelings sometimes might be able to clear out our own doubts and guide us beyond to show some new delight. So, the speaker asks us to welcome and entertain our negative feelings.

‘Violently sweeps your house empty of its furniture’ indicates the strong feelings of sorrows that sweep the happiness of one’s life. This crowd of sorrows can be overcome with honorable and cheerful treatments.

c. Do you agree with the poet’s opinion that we should be grateful for whatever comes our way? Give reasons for your answer.

Yes, we must be grateful for whatever comes our way, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. We must not be disturbed with whatever comes our way. Instead with caring treatment we can change them to happiness.

d. Giving real-life examples, elaborate on how a person can implement the message from the poem.

Feelings and emotions are part of human life. They come in like an unexpected visitor. This realization helps us not run away from them when they come. Sometimes sorrows and depression can take away our joyful living. With awareness we need to accept them with laugh and delight and choose to be happy.

Feelings and emotions are part of human life. The poet refers to these emotions as unexpected visitors. Every feeling has something to teach us in life. Be it good or bad, joys or sorrows, we must be grateful to these feelings. With awareness we need to accept them with laugh and delight and choose to be happy.
